 First, let me begin by saying that my motivation for writing this is born of love. I am not a perfect person attacking what I perceive to be imperfect people. I am not a homophobe, hate-monger, political activist or religious crazy person. I am not writing this to create friction. I realize though that my broaching this topic will probably result in more heat than light. I suppose that this is the nature of things, and I should not expect any different, but I'm an eternal optimist (literally). One thing that I have noticed is that while we have been very busy talking about social, political, and economic issues, related to this topic, we had very little discussion about the theological impact or lack thereof. I'm not so naïve that I would think that somehow my words on this matter are going to change peoples minds. For the most part, I would think that most of you already have your minds made up. My goal though is to bring a voice to a particular area of the discussion that I believe to be fundamental to the overall question. I'm sure that many individuals on either side of the issue just assume that the Bible says same sex marriage is wrong and that's the end of the discussion. I'm afraid that it is a little more complex than this. This is not an exhaustive treatment of this topic. Many books have been written which will, I have no doubt, have done a better job at addressing this subject. This is a simple little diatribe which I pray will at least give us cause to pause and think... Selah סלהSo, where do we begin? Probably the best place to begin is at the beginning.
